Many people support a charity close to their heart during their lifetime, whether that be through voluntary work, raising money by doing a sponsored activity, buying something at a cake sale, or by making a donation. However, many of those who support a charity during their lifetime don’t know that they can continue to support a charity on their death through their will – this is called a ‘charitable legacy’. Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched an exciting new competition to capture The Pinewoods throughout the seasons. Visitors to the woods are being asked to submit pictures over the next 12 months representing the seasons. The best pictures for each season will be selected for a limited edition 2016 calendar. Pinewoods Conservation Group is pleased to be 1 of 3 Charities being supported by Co-Op stores on Otley Road Harrogate. On purchasing Co-op branded goods you could donate 1% percentage of your purchase monies to us or you can donate to all 3 nominated causes equally. As such we would appreciate it if all users of the Co-ops on Otley Road apply for card if not already in possession and ensure that Pinewoods Conservation Group and other local charities receive these funds. Planting has started at Irongate field as part of the Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) project to turn the area into a community green space. Wednesday 16th April saw the project get officially underway as part of RHS National Gardening Week with RHS Harlow Carr nominating this project as one they wanted to support. Joining RHS staff was members of the PCG along with students from Horticap and Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group. Detail |

Saturday 19th July saw the formal opening of Irongate Field on Harlow Moor Road, Harrogate with a Teddy Bears picnic. The formal opening, sponsored by Harrogate Spring Water took place at 1pm by Mayor Cllr Jim Clark in a rare moment of sunshine. Despite the mixed weather about 100 people attend, many with bears to see the field and enjoy food prepared by 20th Harrogate Scouts. There was also a “bested dressed bear” competition as well as a visit from a rather large bear! Detail |

The Consevation Volunteers are a charity who reclaim green spaces and run environmental projects through a network of community groups (such as Pinewoods Conservation Group) and volunteers. They have sold trees and seeds for some time but have recently set up an online shop for other gardening items. Members have been offered a 10% discount on all items in the shop.
