This morning we ventured into the woods with some of our intrepid volunteers to do some balsam bashing! It was raining but it did not deter us and we had great fun…. We are grateful to the team at Priestley International Centre for Climate, University of Leeds, especially Anna Gugan & Professor Piers M. Forster, for their research into the carbon loss at Rotary Wood. The report confirms our concern that the mitigation being offered does not equate to land being lost with regards to carbon loss. With massive thanks to Open Country the path from the War Memorial to Harlow Moor Road has been resurfaced. Works took the best part of 3 days but the result are very impressive with new gravel being added and compacted. We will review the need for any additional works after the winter. Detail |
