No Sun But Lots of Fun at the Pinewoods Open Day Tue, 2014-09-23 18:26

The sun didn’t arrive for the Pinewoods Open Day last week but lot of visitors did. Many hundreds of visitors enjoyed the various stalls and events arranged by the Pinewoods Conservation Group.  The day was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress with the prize raffle being drawn by local MP Andrew Jones.  The highlight of the day was a number of demonstrations by local group "Top Dog Agility" who kept the crowds entertained.

Winner of the Wildlife Volunteer of the Year Award Sat, 2014-11-01 08:24

At the Harrogate&Ripon CVS Volunteering Oscars on 31st October our ex chair and committee member Geoff Scurrah was awarded Wildlife Volunteer of the Year. It was the first time this category had been added to the awards that made a member of the Pinewoods winning all the more special.

Memorial Tree for Veronica Davenport Thu, 2014-11-27 18:08

This morning we planted a memorial tree in memory of one of our founding Members who died a year ago, Veronica Davenport. It was cold, wet & muddy but we had 20 people there & 11 dogs and there were others that wanted to come but were unable to make it. We planted a native crab apple and put some bulbs at the base. The following verse was read out by one of Veronica’s friends;

Pinewoods in Pictures Competition - Deadline Extended Mon, 2015-01-19 12:28

Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched an exciting new competition to capture The Pinewoods throughout the seasons. Visitors to the woods are being asked to submit pictures over the next 12 months representing the seasons. The best pictures for each season will be selected for a limited edition 2016 calendar.

Many people support a charity close to their heart during their lifetime, whether that be through voluntary work, raising money by doing a sponsored activity, buying something at a cake sale, or by making a donation.  However, many of those who support a charity during their lifetime don’t know that they can continue to support a charity on their death through their will – this is called a ‘charitable legacy’.

Updated - Pinewoods Applies to be “Asset of Community Value” Thu, 2015-02-05 18:45 Pinewoods Conservation Group Seeks Additional Protection for the Pinewoods & Surrounding Areas

Updated 8th March 2015: We are pleased to confirm that The Pinewoods has been formerly added to the Harrogate Counil register as an Asset of Community Value. The additional 3 applications for surrounding land were all rejected.

Additional Nest Boxes for the Pinewoods Thu, 2015-02-26 19:31 Over 100 Bird and Bat Boxes Now Erected Within the Pinewoods

Members and volunteers from the Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) were joined by 20th Harrogate Scouts and staff from RHS Harlow Carr as part of a National Nest Box Week.

Bat boxes build by 20th Harrogate Scouts and bird boxes donated by RHS Harlow Carr were added to the various boxes already in place. This now makes a total of over 100 boxes now available for use within the Pinewoods.

Pinewoods Summer Scarecrow Stroll Mon, 2015-04-20 18:40

A number of special visitors are expected to be seen within the Pinewoods over the summer. The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has announced a new competition - “A Summer Scarecrow Stroll” – that will see the addition of decorated scarecrows along the main footpath.

Pinewoods in Paint Sun, 2015-05-10 12:59

At the preview evening for their Spring Exhibition the Harrogate & Nidderdale Art Club awarded a number of prizes including one for the best painting of The Pinewoods, Harrogate. The competition, run in association with the Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG), encouraged Art Club members to visit the Pinewoods and submit paintings.
