Let's add a touch of enchantment to the forest by painting our own elf doors. Get your creative spirit ready and bring some extra magic to this festive season. We have 24 numbered elf doors that need to be painted so that we can put them up in the Pinewoods for the advent walk. We'll provide the base doors (with thanks to Harlow Hill Men in Sheds) and we will collect if needed. You bring the imagination! Let's make this woodland adventure truly special. Get painting! Harrogate Spring Water, now owned by Danone, has confirmed it is reverting to its original 2017 plan that covered a smaller area than the 2019 proposals rejected in 2021. The company is now putting together a “Reserved Matters” application which will detail how the new building will look and how the surrounding area will be landscaped. Detail |

Harrogate based conservation charity Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has been granted a renewal of its Asset of Community Value designation for the Pinewood, Harrogate. The Pinewoods, including Rotary Woods and Irongate Field, was first offered additional protection under the Localism Act in 2015 for an initial 5 years. This extension, the 1st ever granted by Harrogate Council, will see this protection extended to March 2025. Detail |

Following the rejection of the recent planning variation for a larger extension to the Harrogate Spring Water bottling plant into Rotary Wood, we can now confirm that the original application is now being reviewed by Harrogate Council. The full plans for the original extension were submitted in May 2020 along with the variation for the larger extension. (As a reminder outline planning for the original extension was approved in May 2017 with a number of strict condition.) We held any decision on those full plans until we knew the outcome of the application for the larger site. However, we now expect the planning committee to be asked to approve the original application over the next few months. Detail |

Charity disputes claims on quality of trees as part of planning dispute. Harrogate based conservation charity Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has disputed claims that Rotary Wood is not a successful woodland that has been supported by a leading horticultural expert. Rotary Wood is currently under threat by Harrogate Spring Water Limited (HSWL) who plan to extend their current bottling plant into wood destroying up to 4 acres of woodland. Detail |

As part of planned repairs the middle path from the War Memorial to Harlow Moor Road will be closed from Tue 7th Aug to Fri 10th Aug. This will allow for areas of the path to be cleared and any major holes filled with chipped stone. This work is urgently needed and best done in dry weather that we fortunately have had recently. This will mean that the Woodland Fairy Door Walk will become more if a linear walk for these 4 days but should be back open for this weekend. Detail |

Pinewoods Conservation Group is offering a limited number of annual membership packs to include a pin badge and gift certificate. Membership is only £5 for individuals and £7 for families. All funds raised go towards the maintenance and conservation of the Pinewoods. Members will also receive regular newsletters and updates on events and projects with the opportunity to get more involved if desired. Detail |

Although anti-social behaviour in The Pinewoods is rare and caused by a minority it is important that issues are reported formally. This will allow authorities to identify any increases in issues and direct any resources needed to intervene as appropriate. We are therefore asking members and visitors to report any occurrences of: • vandalism • possible criminal damage • evidence of drug taking • location of fires • large areas of litter Detail |
