Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched an exciting new competition to capture The Pinewoods throughout the seasons. Visitors to the woods are being asked to submit pictures over the next 12 months representing the seasons. The best pictures for each season will be selected for a limited edition 2016 calendar.Detail

|Memorial Tree for Veronica Davenport||Thu, 2014-11-27 18:08||
This morning we planted a memorial tree in memory of one of our founding Members who died a year ago, Veronica Davenport. It was cold, wet & muddy but we had 20 people there & 11 dogs and there were others that wanted to come but were unable to make it. We planted a native crab apple and put some bulbs at the base. The following verse was read out by one of Veronica’s friends;

At the Harrogate&Ripon CVS Volunteering Oscars on 31st October our ex chair and committee member Geoff Scurrah was awarded Wildlife Volunteer of the Year. It was the first time this category had been added to the awards that made a member of the Pinewoods winning all the more special.Detail
|No Sun But Lots of Fun at the Pinewoods Open Day||Tue, 2014-09-23 18:26||
The sun didn’t arrive for the Pinewoods Open Day last week but lot of visitors did. Many hundreds of visitors enjoyed the various stalls and events arranged by the Pinewoods Conservation Group. The day was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress with the prize raffle being drawn by local MP Andrew Jones. The highlight of the day was a number of demonstrations by local group "Top Dog Agility" who kept the crowds entertained.Detail

Saturday 19th July saw the formal opening of Irongate Field on Harlow Moor Road, Harrogate with a Teddy Bears picnic. The formal opening, sponsored by Harrogate Spring Water took place at 1pm by Mayor Cllr Jim Clark in a rare moment of sunshine. Despite the mixed weather about 100 people attend, many with bears to see the field and enjoy food prepared by 20th Harrogate Scouts. There was also a “bested dressed bear” competition as well as a visit from a rather large bear!Detail

Planting has started at Irongate field as part of the Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) project to turn the area into a community green space. Wednesday 16th April saw the project get officially underway as part of RHS National Gardening Week with RHS Harlow Carr nominating this project as one they wanted to support. Joining RHS staff was members of the PCG along with students from Horticap and Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group.Detail
