Did you know that The Pinewoods is home to a large family of Pipistrelles bats! A number of bat boxed were placed in the woods a number of years ago and are inspected by a licensed bat handler at least annually. Actual numbers have remained steady at just over 20 being found within the various bat boxes and are now seen as permanent residents. These bats are accepted by HM Government as an environment performance indicator and are a protected species. Detail |

The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) is planning to take part in the Harrogate Council 101 Bicyclettes project. The council is encouraging local groups, volunteers and residents to get involved in the Tour De France by decorating bicycles and displaying them across our district.

The Consevation Volunteers are a charity who reclaim green spaces and run environmental projects through a network of community groups (such as Pinewoods Conservation Group) and volunteers. They have sold trees and seeds for some time but have recently set up an online shop for other gardening items. Members have been offered a 10% discount on all items in the shop. The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched a membership drive for 2014. The Harrogate based charity, which promotes the maintenance and conservation of the area known as the Pinewoods situated between the Valley Gardens and Harlow Carr Gardens, is looking to double its members during the year. Harrogate Borough Council has given the green light on a proposal by Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) to transform Irongate field into a green community space.
